The local entry in the nationally recognized Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League is the Baltimore Redbirds. The CRCBL has quickly grown into one of the top college summer leagues in the nation, after beginning just 8 years ago. USA Todayran a front page story featuring the league just last summer. An astounding 107 league alumni are currently playing professional baseball! The league is also partially funded by Majot League Baseball. Last August, the 'birds' reached the league championship game for the 3rd consecutive year and are looking to repeat as Cal Ripken League Champions in 2013! Home games are played at Calvert Hall (6:30 pm start) under the lights at award winning Carlo Crispino Baseball Stadium, located at the corner of LaSalle Rd & Putty Hill Ave. We have a dynamic roster for 2013, including several prospects for the Major League Draft. The Redbirds are serious contenders who should again be one of the top amateur teams in the nation. Players hail from among high profile programs and many of them are visiting and living in the Baltimore area for the very first time.... The season runs from early June to late July (playoffs). These college players are here in our town chasing their dream of playing professional baseball, this being the last stop of their amateur baseball journey. Best of all, there is no charge for fans to attend these games. Great family entertainment featuring some of the finest summer college baseball available anywhere in the country.
